Dimondale
Age 75, born March 27, 1919; died suddenly at home January 16, 1995. Mr. Finison was a life long resident of Dimondale; and retired in 1986 after almost 43 years of service (primarily in skilled trades) at General Motors, Oldsmobile Division. He was a member of UAW Local 652. He attended Mayflower Congregational Church in Lansing. Mr. Finison is survived by his wife of 48 years, Velma BENHAM, whom he married on July 27, 1946; 2 daughters, Diane (George) LANNING and Gail CARTWRIGHT, both of Lansing; 2 sons, Kim (Lorraine) FINISON of Lansing and Todd (Paula) FINISON of Dimondale; 9 grandchildren, Mike and Stacy LANNING, Shawn and Brian CARTWRIGHT, Kristopher, Lindsay and Andrea FINISON, and Eric and Kevin FINISON; 1 sister, Wanda WARD of Detroit; sister-in-law, Myrtle FINISON of Northampton, MA; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lorenz and Carrie (BENNETT) FINISON; 1 brother, Harvey FINISON, and 1 sister, Ruth JACHALKE. Funeral services 11 a.m. Thursday, January 19, 1995 at Field & Leik Funeral Home in Dimondale, with Rev. Sharon A. Wozencraft Mayflower Congregational Church, officiating. Interment will be in Dimondale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the memorial fund of Mayflower Congregational Church, 2901 W. Mt. Home, Lansing 48911; American Diabetes Association or to the charity of ones choice.
